Mitchell’s Glengyle Distillery

Michell’s Glengyle Distillery is situated in Campbeltown, on the Mull of Kintyre.

Re-opened on 25th March 2004 after 80 silent years, Mitchell’s Glengyle Distillery took its place alongside Springbank and Glen Scotia Distilleries, thus restoring Campbeltown to its rightful place alongside the classic whisky producing regions of Scotland.

As part of the 3rd birthday celebrations in 2007 Mitchell’s Glengyle Distillery was proud to be involved with the Tiree World Cup, and we currently have 3 casks of whisky maturing in our warehouse owned by Kauli Seadi, Victor Fernandez and Josh Angulo.

This year we have produced a limited edition blended whisky for the Tiree Wave Classic. This whisky will be limited to 150 bottles, and will only be available for the duration of the competition.

This blend is made up entirely of Campbeltown Malts - Kilkerran Single Malts from the Mitchell’s Glengyle Distillery has been expertly blended with Springbank and Longrow Single Malts by our Director of Production. The resulting whisky is light and sweet on the nose, like pick n’ mix with a little marzipan and soft fruit. The palate also has a delicate sweetness with a hint of malt and smoke that slowly fades.

Team 15 Success

The Tiree Team 15 Junior Racing Event was a great success at Loch Bhasapol on Wednesday 14th.

17 rounds of racing were completed with the junior racers prior to finally announcing the winners of the event.

A big thank you to everyone who came along on the day and contributed in some shape or form. Additionally a special thanks to George Shillito and Chris Murray from Tushingham/Starboard who were kind enough to come along with demo equipment from their sponsors. The boys also got in the water and completed the final race of the day with the kids prior to teaching the children how to perform some pretty sporty freestyle moves!

Overall the day turned out to be a great success, even with the light winds that we had over the course of the day. This is an event which we hope to grow for next year to involve more young windsurfers in racing and give them the opportunity to interact with the top stars in the sport. Watch this space for 2010!
