Tiree is known well by the windsurfing elite for waves and lots of wind, and that is exactly what they are hoping to experience from Friday 11th to Saturday 18th October.
In preparation for the competition over the last few days, many of the riders have enjoyed warming up in some of the most spectacular conditions ever experience. Tiree has proven itself yet again, as one of the best places for windsurfing. The riders are looking for the ultimate conditions - massive waves and lots of wind, the practice sessions have got the competitors excited, where they have already experienced world class windsurfing.
The sun was shining today for what was the first day of official competition and the wind and waves were perfect for a full round of Amateurs, Masters and Ladies competition. These fleets run alongside the Pro rider competition. The Pros were using the valuable time to warm up.
Waves and good surf are the order of the day and the weather forecast for the rest of the week is promising. Maybe that is why there were so many smiling and happy people on the beach.
